Burnout Buddy is great!

Buddy makes Apple’s Screen Time much more useful for Full Grown Adults.
I don’t know about you, but every time I’ve tried using the Screen Time settings by themselves; I would always be interrupted in the middle of something, which is the point. But one thing would render the entire it useless, most of the time; The ability to skip that screen for 1 to 5 minutes, or Indefinitely. If you don’t have a Screen Time passcode in place, or you know the code, there’s literally no way for this screen to hinder you any more than a fly buzzing around your head.

This is where Burnout Buddy can help!

Our Buddy here features many tools to help people make use of Screen Time, to improve their phone usage.
They integrate with Apple’s ScreenTime API, which allows them to make use of the interface you’re already used to. This puts them a step ahead of many apps I’ve tried to solve the problems I had with Screen Time.
Buddy can make use of the usual blocking procedures, Schedule based and Usage based blocking. But it also boasts other procedures not usually available, all due to their integration with Apple’s Shortcuts. These include:

  • Focus-Mode based
  • Location based
  • and Siri based blocking

Shortcuts Integration, allows you to trigger a custom blocking condition based on events not normally supported by Screen Time. The main action toggles a switch on the blocking condition of your choosing, enabling it indefinitely, or vice-versa. This gives you a lot more control than would usually be possible.

Here’s a real world example:

You’ve been getting in trouble at work for scrolling through social media, or playing games. So you set up a Shortcuts Automation to automatically block the app/s in question when you arrive at work, and unblock them when you leave.

This is just one of many examples that I can think of, and countless more that I can’t.

THIS APP HAS SO MUCH TO OFFER!!!

There’s no account creation, along with complete privacy. Two things I really can’t complain about.
When creating a blocking condition, you’re not limited to using just Schedule, Usage, or Shortcuts based conditions. You can pick and choose to your hearts content, or even use all three in tandem!
You can set up multiple conditions, allowing you to block different groups under differing situations.
Burnout Buddy features a Strict Mode, which is completely separate from the indefinite blocking I mentioned earlier. While in this mode, you will not be able to change, or delete a condition while it’s active. This keeps you from wiggling your way around a blockage you put in place for yourself. This is especially useful when trying to overcome an addiction to games, or social media.
Your Buddy can send you notifications about specific events concerning your blocking conditions. – We’ll explore this in the Feature Rundown below
You can customize the blocking screen, so it’s a little bit more personal. This feature isn’t super robust, but it’s a lot more than I’m used to.
On top of everything else, Buddy also has custom App Icons, and HomeScreen Widgets that display active blocking conditions.

Now that I’ve talked your ear off about this great app here, let’s do a…
